At a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, the Board identified Del Roble, Glider and Miner Schools to close effective with the 2018-2019 school year.
UPDATE: On February 8, 2018 the Board ratified the closure of Glider and Miner Schools. Del Roble remains open for further consideration. Baldwin Elementary is not closing, and the previous stipulation to reconsider Baldwin for closure in one year was removed.
A Special Board Meeting is scheduled for March 1, 2018 at 6:00 PM at the District Office. The agenda will post 24 hours prior.
After the Board takes action, families impacted by school closure and/or boundary reassignment will receive a letter with their child’s new school assignment and any grandfathering options available. Once enrollment is finalized, staff assignments will take place. A transition committee will begin working on all logistical aspects of this transition. Each school’s existing students and new students will begin building a new identity, culture, and community together. It is important that everyone be open to new ways and new ideas so everyone has a sense of belonging. We have the opportunity to merge traditions and all things that make ALL of our schools great to create even stronger environments for our students to thrive.
